African Leopard: These reclusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with a population of around 1,000. This long-extinct volcano is the world’s largest intact caldera and is regarded as one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations on the planet. Diverse habitats, including permanent wetlands, shelter within its steep-sided walls, supporting an astonishing number of animals. Ngorongoro has long been home to a thriving population of big game species, including great-tusked elephants, healthy black rhinos, and the famous black-maned lions. This is one of the few places in Africa where you can see the Big 5 on a single game drive, and there’s plenty more to see. Gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra herds live here, as do smaller predators such as caracal and serval cats, as well as lions and their eternal adversaries, spotted hyenas. After the game driver ascends and drives to Kilimanjaro International Airport for catching a flight back home.
